A&M Plans to Open this Fall!
According to a recent report from KTBX, Chancellor Sharp charges A&M President to "Make it happen" in regard to re-opening the university this fall, including football! See recap below:
COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX)- Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp says he wants students and football back on campus in the fall.
The chancellor made those remarks during a phone call to university presidents and agency heads, according to a report Thursday morning from the Texas Tribune. The system office confirmed those remarks, saying that Sharp charged the leadership to come up with a plan for reopening this fall saying, "make this happen."
In that call, Sharp told the group to plan to be open and operational this fall. He encouraged them to plan how to do it safely, with testing and contact tracing and involving Health Science Center personnel to ensure the welfare of students, faculty, and staff. System spokesperson Laylan Copelin says that would mean accomodating in-person instruction and playing football safely for players and fans.
Copelin said the final decision is left to the Governor, the Board of Regents, the NCAA and the Southeastern Conference.
